Victory Road Bike Review

 Victory Vision Men's Road Bike
Victory Vision Men's Road Bike
Ok, to be honest, I have not yet ridden the bike, the 4 stars are for my impressions so far. I know that there are a lot more bike brands out there than there are bike makers, and most use the same components anyway. I wasn't expecting a top of the line bike here, just something to ride to store and take some mid-distance rides on the bike trails. I was actually impressed when I unpacked it, everything looks great. Good paint job, the logos aren't just stickers on top like a lot of inexpensive, (and some fairly expensive), bikes. The components are all very good quality, Shimano shifters, very good derailleurs, good brakes, excellent tape job on the handlebars. The frame is solid, good welds, beefy and still light enough to carry easily with one hand. I finished assembling it, and making all the adjustments. I'm not an expert here, but I am pretty handy in general, plus I have owned, assembled, refurbished and maintained bikes before. The assembly was a breeze, everything fit like it should, no problems at all. Getting the brakes, etc. adjusted correctly, well, I wouldn't want to do it without any experience, and the manual included wouldn't be much help to a newbie. I aired up one tire, then started the second, got to 40 pounds, and it blew. I took it off the rim to patch the tube and saw that the rim strip didn't cover all the spoke holes. Well, this isn't cool, and I'd be worried about the quality of the bike in general, but I called the number for product support, and had a very nice conversation, they laughed when I told them the problem, apparently it was a new one for them. Before I got around to asking what they'd do to fix the problem, they asked for my address so they can ship two new tubes and two sets of rim strips. I know anyone can make a bad product, and there will always be some lemons, but to me the difference is the support. I feel confident riding this bike knowing that the company offers such fantastic support.- By. D. Chorkhill-

GMC Mountain Bike Review

 GMC Topkick Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike
 GMC Topkick Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike
This is a good bike - the best feature is the dual suspension. Light and easy dropping off curbs on the way to work - huge difference from my hardtail mountain bike.

Disc brakes are nice to have, on front and rear - work much better than rim brakes. To adjust them hold the brake lever in and tighten them down via a hex wrench on the opposite center of the disc brake until the pads are flush against the disc, then turn back until the brake lever has enough play in it.

The rims are v-shaped, and narrow - much more so than my other bikes. It was quite a job to add tuffy liners to to the tires. I think I will have a bike shop change the tire next time they need it. The hard part is getting the tire off and on those narrow rims. The people at REI said to squeeze on the sides of the tire as you put it on, so both ends go deep into the rim.

Be careful when you put the front tire on that you have the fork facing forward. (I had it backwards the first time). Make sure the big round points on U part of the fork point towards the front of the bike.

The tires are very knobby. If you ride on the street a lot you might want to change them to something with a smoother tread in the middle.

The bike weighs 38 pounds put together - not exactly light, but since I ride for pleasure and exercise, and don't plan to race, the weight is fine.

If you get it for less than 150, (what Amazon is selling it for the week of Feb 20), it is quite a bargain. (disc brakes by themselves often add $100 to a bike).

I raised the seat pretty high for a comfortable ride at my height, and found the handlebars are two low. I fixed this by adding some handlebar extenders which allow me to be more upright when I am not braking.

To my knowledge you can't raise the stem on the handlebars without adding a spacer. If anyone finds out otherwise, please comment to this post.

Another possibility (besides handlebar extensions), would be to replace the handlebar with one that has more of a rise to it.

The Topkick is made by Kent Bicycle Company for GMC. They also make some Cadillac Mountain Bikes - the Cadillac AM2.4 and AM2.7, which are sold on Amazon. They are both dual suspension with disc brakes and have a very similar frame as the Topkick. Both bikes sale for over $1000. - By. Cdog-

Adult Men's Bike Review

 Polaris Adult Dual Suspension Bike
Polaris Adult Dual Suspension Bike
I bought this bike to use when doing moderate/intermediate trails in Colorado and Moab Utah. For my budget, spending a few hundred every few years instead of paying a few thousand up front seemed the way to go [...] But because of the riding I wanted to do, I had to get something at least half way decent - not some Huffy or the like from our local Wally Mart and something that suited my height(5'11"). [...] You need a few tools but ,and I am not exaggerating, it took maybe 20 minutes to put it ALL together and check everything (I am not even bike savvy). The bike came THAT ready to assemble. The bike is much lighter than you would expect from a steel frame and the shifters are good. It still needs a few adjustments but this bike rides good and looks great. Hey - its not a thousand dollar bike so don't expect that quality/craftsmanship but it certainly does not ride like a [100$] bike either. I am not easily impressed but this bike does not disappoint.- By Edwin Rabbipal -

Adult Women's Bike Review

Huffy Women's Bayponte Bike, Teal, 26-Inch
Huffy Women's Bayponte Bike, Teal, 26-Inch
Love this womens bike. This is my very first bike, and it rides smoothly. Like the color. The seat is convertible (love it). At first I thought, I shouldn't of bought the bike on line, because it might be difficult to assemble it. I was wrong, when it got to my home it was partially put together and all I had to do is put some of the parts myself (all guess work, it was that easy). Would I buy another Huffy bike for a friend or for my future self? The answer is yes, and also because it was the cheapest on Amazon. - By Elizabeth Valle-

Pacific Stratus Men's Mountain Bike (26-Inch Wheels)
This bike is good looking and you can't beat the price. You will need to take a some time to put it together and double check everything. Make sure you turn the fork 180 degrees. They did this so it would fit in the box. It came packaged good. We're just using the bike for around town with the kids. I would recommend it. FYI, pacific cycle is the parent company for Schwinn and Mongoose bikes so I believe this will be a decent reliable bike for us.- By K. Mangum -
